چکیده

Complex applications in domains such as decision support systems and real time systems require a functionality that is achieved by combining the active and temporal database technologies. In this paper we present TALE, a Temporal Active Language and Execution model. TALE is a temporal active database programming language, combined with an execution model that enables a correct and eecient processing of operations. As such, TALE is a step in accommodating software engineering challenges in modern information systems. TALE primitives are presented using examples and an EBNF. The run-time control mechanism of the model is introduced and TALE properties, namely active and temporal capabilities, and reeective programming capabilities are discussed.

A Rule-Oriented Formalism for Active Temporal Databases

This paper introduces a declarative conceptual modelling formalism and a database transaction handling mechanism for active temporal database applications. The term ‘active temporal databases’ is used in this paper to refer to databases that support historical information and in addition, provide mechanisms to express and handle constraints, derivations and actions on the stored information. Th...

Deterministic Measurement of Reliability and Performance Using Explicit Colored Petri Net in Business Process Execution Language and Eflow

Today there are many techniques for web service compositions. Evaluation of quality parameters has great impact on evaluation of final product. BPEL is one of those techniques that several researches have been done on its evaluation. However, there are few researches on evaluation of QoS in eflow. This research tries to evaluate performance and reliability of eflow and BPEL through mapping them...

Execution-Based Model Checking of Interrupt-Based Systems

Execution-based model checking (EMC) is a verification technique based on executing a multi-threaded/multiprocess program repeatedly in a systematic manner in order to explore the different interleavings of the program. This is in contrast to traditional model checking, where a model of a system is analyzed. Several execution-based model-checking tools exist at this point, such as for example V...

Beyond Coupling Modes: Implementing Active Concepts on Top of a Commercial ooDBMS

Active object-oriented database systems are especially useful in the area of nonstandard applications in order to implement an event-driven and constraint-driven system environment. Several approaches exist in literature integrating active concepts into object-oriented databases. For most systems, their knowledge model is based on Event/Condition/Action rules, and their execution model is based...

A parallel execution model for Chronolog

Temporal logic has been widely used as a formalism for program specification and verification [9, 12, 13], modelling temporal databases [1, 3, 14] and reasoning about time [8, 19, 20]. In temporal logic, the meanings of formulae depend on an implicit time parameter and elements from different moments in time can be combined through the use of temporal operators. Therefore, temporal logic can mo...
